Golden holidays in winter, too

Cala d'Or Family Coast can be an attractive destination in winter, too, depending on what visitors are looking for. The beach is still interesting at least until late October, at the end of the tourist season. In fact, we speak of the "tourism winter", from November to April. Naturally the atmosphere in Cala d'Or changes during this period. Most of the hotels close during the winter months and the same is true of many restaurants and some other businesses. Even so, the village continues to function because quite apart from the visitors, there is a fair number of permanent residents, both Mallorcans and outsiders. A different kind of tranquillity reigns. Actually, winter gives the "Family Coast" an even more familiar character.

And there are attractions that do not exist in summer: the blossoming almond trees, the verdant fields, the popular winter festivals with their bonfires and cultural presentations, and a climate that not only enables, but is in fact ideal for sports activities such as cycling, golf and hiking, among others, and specifically for nature lovers. One of the numerous natural parks on Mallorca forms part of Cala d'Or Family Coast: the Mondragó Natural Park.
